Principal Tuba - Colorado Symphony Orchestra and Adjunct Professor of Tuba - University of Denver Lamont School of Music

Stephen Dombrowski, a native of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, is the Principal Tubist of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and an Adjunct Professor of Tuba at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Tuba from Boston University, where he studied under Gary Ofenloch and Toby Hanks, and later continued his studies with Daniel Perantoni at Indiana University.
Alongside his work with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and its Brass Quintet, Stephen has performed with notable groups and festivals such as Summit Brass, the Grand Teton Music Festival, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Central City Opera, Colorado Music Festival, and Denver Municipal Band. His other notable performances include appearances with the Tanglewood Music Center Brass, Lafayette Symphony Orchestra (IN), Chicago Civic Orchestra, and Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.
With eleven years as an Adjunct Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium at Colorado State University, Stephen has also taught at the Rafael Mendez Brass Institute, University of Memphis Scheidt School of Music, Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, Lamont Summer Academy, Metropolitan State College of Denver, Colorado Christian University, and the Music at Maple Mount Festival. He has been a clinician at various institutions, including the University of Colorado Boulder, Northern Arizona University, Denver School of the Arts, and the International Tuba-Euphonium Association.
Stephen’s discography includes A Summit Brass Night with Summit Brass, Copland with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and Laude, the Music of Howard Hanson with Philharmonia A Vent, as well as regular broadcasts on Colorado Public Radio featuring the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.
Currently residing in Centennial, CO, with his wife, Angela, and their three children, Stephen enjoys woodworking, home renovation projects, and cheering on the Red Sox in his free time. He is a B&S tubas Performing Artist.
